Napoli to complete Dries Mertens deal
Napoli manager Rafa Benitez will secure a deal that sees Belgium international Dries Mertens join the Italian side. A fee of around 10 million Euros has been agreed with Mertens' current club PSV Eindhoven.
Aurelio De Laurentiis has been in constant discussion with Benitez regarding potential transfer targets this month. It is certain to be a busy time in Naples, as Edinson Cavani has been persistently linked with a move away to Real Madrid and various Premier League sides.
Napoli have now moved quickly to secure a move for Mertens, who had been attracting interest from Tottenham and Liverpool.
"Dries Mertens underwent medical tests for Napoli today. The Belgian winger landed at Capodichino airport and then was taken to Cerreto Sannita medical centre (Benevento)," said a statement on Napoli's official website.
"The tests were passed and were carried out by Napoli medical staff."
Mertens scored 16 goals last year in 29 games for PSV in the Dutch top division.
