Newcastle chasing Andre-Pierre Gignac
Newcastle have joined the race for Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac's signature. The French international striker had a disappointing 2011-12 season and was linked with a move to Fulham, but a remarkable recovery of form last year seems to have improved his chances of a move to England.
The forward scored an impressive 13 goals in 28 Ligue 1 games for Marseille last year, now Newcastle are eager to bring the forward to St. James' Park.
Newcastle are still considering finding a new signing for their collection of strikers as they sold Demba Ba to Chelsea last year. At the moment, Papiss Cisse is first choice but manager Alan Pardew wants to find a partner for the African.
