Chelsea eyeing Norwich Keeper John Ruddy

Chelsea are looking into the prospect of making a move for the talented England goalkeeper John Ruddy. The Blues have hardly ever required a second keeper for any reason other than to keep the bench warm ever since the arrival of Petr Cech from Rennes in 2004.

However, every team would always need at least an average back up if not a good one. Chelsea, who have been in the market looking out for strikers and midfielders ,are now in the search for goalkeepers too.

Chelsea presently don't have a quality at the post other than Petr Cech ,whose the only accomplished keeper left in the squad.

Jamal Blackman who is still in the Academy isn’t considered as much of a back-up option as of yet. Thibaut Courtois has been recently loaned out to Atletico Madrid for the third season running while Henrique Hilario and Ross Turnbull were released on a free at the end of their respective contracts.

According to the Sun, the Blues have tabled a bid of £5 million for Norwich keeper, John Ruddy. The bid was immediately refused sighting the reason that Ruddy is the only keeper at Carrow Road with international experience. The Canaries are looking for atleast double of that offer.

The 26 year England international, who missed much of last season due to injury, is a key asset to the squad.

Ruddy’s only international match was the 2-1 win against Italy ten months back. His three month absence was comfortably adopted by former Blackburn goalkeeper Mark Bunn.
