Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien, Petr Cech and Joe Cole have declared that Chelsea are moving the right direction after last months worries. The players have all supported the new attacking brand of football adopted by Avram Grant.

Ivory Coast striker Kalou said in the Daily Mail: "Jose Mourinho brought me to Chelsea so in that respect it was difficult to see him go.

"I'm a professional footballer and these things happen so we have to move on. The most important thing is the team. As professionals, that's all that matters, so we have to give our best to whoever we are working with.

"Avram likes his players to be focused on their jobs and their goals. He knows what he wants and where he's going. So we have to make his job as easy as we can by giving him our best."

Ghana midfielder Essien is confident West London club can win back the Premiership title, which Manchester United claimed from them last season.

Essien said: “We can still win the league this season. We have got the players and are back on track now and winning matches. If we can keep going like that we can turn things around.”

The Blues have climbed from being low in the top-half of the table to being in fourth position, following their successive wins over Bolton, Middlesbrough and the 6-0 hammering of third-placed Manchester City on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Cech said: “It is important that we climb the table. We are already within sight of United and Arsenal and we are prepared to cut the margin completely.”

"The objective is clear — we must keep winning and winning as we have already lost a lot of points. Once you are winning, all the problems are forgotten. We are okay,’’ added the Czech international.

England winger Joe Cole, meanwhile, backed the transition the Blues are going through as Grant endeavours to bring the attacking brand of football at Stamford Bridge in a step-by-step manner.

The Blues ace said: “What we are doing now will affect Chelsea for many years. And if we are successful in what we are trying to achieve then Chelsea will take many titles.

“We are in the process of trying to play positive football and we are going in the right way.”
