Man Utd and Southampton battle for Davide Astori signature

Both Manchester United and Southampton are amongst the teams eager to bring Cagliari defender Davide Astori to England this year. United have sent scouts to watch the player in action over 4 times in the last 3 months.

The 26-year-old centre back impressed former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and the Scotsman has now recommended to David Moyes that Man Utd make a move to sign the Italy international.


In Italy, Napoli and AC Milan are also in the race to sign the 12 million Euro rated centre back.


Former AC Milan youth player Astori has played over 140 games for the Sardinian club, scoring 3 goals.
