Rafinha To Move To Celta Vigo On A Loan Deal

Barcelona have agreed with Celta Vigo over a loan deal for Rafinha. The Catalan club have confirmed that the midfielder will move to Celta Vigo on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old had extended his contract with Barcelona until June, 2016. The club have now offered him a chance to experience some first-team football with Luis Enrique’s side.


The La Liga champions have confirmed the deal on their official website.


"FC Barcelona and Celta have agreed to terms for the player Rafael Alcantara, who will join the Celestes for the 2013-14 season on loan," read Barca's statement.

"Before the midfielder signed his new contract, he showed his disposition to join another Liga team on loan in the hopes of enjoying more playing time in Spain's top flight.

"At Celta, Rafinha will join up with former team-mates Fontas and Nolito.


Rafinha, holds dual nationality and has played for both Spain and Brazil at youth level. He is a product of Barcelona youth academy, La Masia.


The player, who is also the younger brother of Thiago Alcantara, prefers playing as an attacking midfielder and has made his debut with Barcelona’s senior team in November 2011, substituting Cesc Fabregas. He netted 10 goals for Barca’s B team in 2012-13.
