Atletico Madrid Make Move For Cazorla

Atletico Madrid have made a move for Arsenal star Santi Cazorla, as reported by the Daily Mail. Atletico have launched a bid of £17.5million for the playmaker.

It has been reported that the club’s chief executive, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, travelled to London on Tuesday night in order to convince the Gunners to sell the Spanish footballer. In the absence of Arsene Wenger, who is on a tour with the team in Vietnam, Marin hoped to speak with the Arsenal executive Dick Law, who handles transfers.

Atletico’s interest in the player is not a sudden one as the club had tried to land the midfielder last summer from Malaga but they failed to match his asking price of £16.5m.

But having signed a friend of Cazorla, in form of David Villa, and also with sufficient money in their transfer kitty, the club hopes to lure him back to Spain.

Although, the move from the La Liga club seems less likely to succeed as Wenger has been looking for a proven striker for the club and Cazorla would be too precious for him to part with.

Cazorla managed to net 12 goals and set up 16 goals for Arsenal last season.
