Sunderland monitoring Raul Meireles
Sunderland have been monitoring the former Chelsea star Raul Meireles since the start of the summer transfer window and are speculated to be ready to put up a bid for the midfielder according to the Daily Mail.
The Portuguese International is currently plying his trade with Fenerbahce in the Turkish League but is currently unsettled at the club. The midfielder is now willing to make a return to the Premier League.
Meireles started off his Premier League career with Liverpool in 2010 having signed for them from FC Porto for £11.5million. Chelsea were impressed by his performances and hence acquired him from the Reds during the 2011/12 season for a fee of £12million.He was deemed surplus to requirements and hence sold to Turkish club Fenerbahce during last summer.
The Black Cats manager Paulo Di Canio is thought to be a firm admirer of the talented midfielder Meireles on account of his tenacious style of football and would be hoping to sign the star to add more steel to his midfield department.
