Newcastle pull out of Gomis chase
Newcastle United are believed to have dropped their interest in signing Olympique Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis according to Sky sources.
The Premier League club had reportedly made an offer of around £6.9 million earlier to the French club but Lyon were holding up for a better offer from the Magpies.
Alan Pardew is now understood to be pushing for a loan move for QPR striker Loic Remy in a desperate bid to add to his attacking options.
Chief scout Graham Carr has been successful in unearthing quality strikers in the past for the Tyneside club and Pardew is overking overtime to find another during this transfer window.
After Demba Ba's departure to Chelsea in January, the club is now left with Papiss Cisse and Shola Ameobi as theonly two recognised strikers.
