Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen have announced the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Emre Can on a four year contract.

The Germany U 21 international has been told by new boss Pep Guardiola that he no longer features in his plans and was subsequently left out of the club's pre season Audi Cup tournament.

The highly talented youngster decided to move to the Bay Arena to secure first team opportunities and vowed to help his new club do well in the Champions League this season.

"Bayer Leverkusen is a top club from Bundesliga 1 and is also playing UEFA Champions League this season," said Can.

"I would like to do my best to help the club have a very successful future in every competition in those future years."

Leverkusen general manager Rudi Voller expressed delight on having signed Can.

"Emre Can is a very talented and versatile player," Bayer Leverkusen general manager Rudi Völler told the official Bayer Leverkusen website.

"He will be able to show that at our club in the future. We are happy to have signed him from Bayern Munich."

Bayern however, have a buy back clause inserted into the contract for an undisclosed fee later.
