Darren Bent to wrap up Fulham transfer this week

Fulham are confident that a deal can be agreed with Aston Villa to sign striker Darren Bent. The England international forward has long been linked witha  move away from Villa Park, but has seen deals to Newcastle and Crystal Palace fall through.

The Cottagers, backed by a new owner and more transfer funds, are all set to wrap up a deal to complete a transfer for the Aston Villa frontman.


Darren Bent endured a miserable campaign last year, playing second fiddle to Christian Benteke in the Villa front line. Bent had been told by manager Paul Lambert back in January that he would be allowed to leave the club.


Jol confirmed that a deal is indeed very close: "With Darren Bent, hopefully we can tell you something by the end of the week.


"We've got several doors open, so for us it is only us to make a decision and get the player."
