Liverpool owner John W Henry rules out sale of Arsenal target Luis Suarez

Liverpool owner John W Henry has asserted that the transfer saga of their star striker Luis Suarez has been "resolved" after he ruled out the possibility of selling the Uruguayan International to Arsenal or any other top side.

Earlier this week, Luis Suarez had publicly asked to leave the Merseyside club insisting that he had a written agreement with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers that would allow him to make a switch to a Champions League outfit this summer.

However, Liverpool's owner John W Henry has portrayed the chance of selling Suarez to Arsenal as "ludicrous". Henry now considers the saga well and truly over, and he hopes that the striker can rebuild his relationship with Rodgers and the Anfield crowd.

Henry was cited as saying in The Guardian : "I think the issue has been resolved now. We have said 'no'. Luis will be a Liverpool player on September 3 [the day after the transfer window closes].

"The manager is upset, as he should be, the supporters are upset, Luis is, but that's going to be between those two and his team-mates. We need Luis. Hopefully this will pass.

"If you look at the full context of what's happened here it's jarring to all our supporters. The club has stood by him so strongly at a time when you could question whether the club should have stood by him, but they did. I wouldn't say we regret that. The manager and his team-mates were solidly behind him. They were out on the field that day. So we felt they knew more about what occurred than we did, on the field."
