Liverpool are preparing a £7million transfer bid for Greek international striker Kostas Mitroglou. The forward has impressed Liverpool's scouts and Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that a deal can be wrapped up for the player in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who currently plays for Olympiakos, has impressed many European scouts who have visited the Greek side to catch a glimpse of the 6 foot 2 striker. Mitroglou proved to be a hero for Greece's World Cup qualification efforts as he helped score the goals to ensure a qualification victory over Romania. Liverpool are on the look out for a new striker in January as it appears Iago Aspas will remain a long term injury absentee and there also remain question marks over the Spaniard's long term future at Anfield.

Liverpool expect to be one of the front runners for Mitroglou's coveted signature, but they will also have to do battle with Valencia and AC Milan who are also both believed to be in the race for his signature.
