Newcastle weigh up move for Reading keeper Alex Mccarthy
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is ready to sign a new goalkeeper in January's transfer window as he seeks new backup for Tim Krul. Currently, Newcastle have Rob Elliot as their second choice keeper but the Toon are hoping to add Reading shot stopper Alex McCarthy to their squad in January.
Mccarthy forced his way into Reading's first team last year in the Premier League and has kept the number 1 spot at the Royals in the Championship. The 23-year-old has shown huge potential and Reading are expecting transfer offers.
Tim Krul is very happy at Newcastle but there has been some talk of interest from Italian and Spanish clubs, with even the likes of Barcelona having been mentioned.
Mccarthy has represented the England under-21 side and is eager to return to the Premier League as soon as possible, even if it means less first team football.
