Southampton plot January move for Jonathan Pitroipa

Premier League minnows Southampton are expected to make a move to sign Rennes winger Jonathan Pitroipa during the January transfer window.

The Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen on strengthening his options in the wide areas, as he aims to take the club to the next level.

The 27-year-old Burkino Faso International has been a regular starter for the Ligue 1 outfit, and has so far provided three assists in 17 games for the club.


According to Sky Sports, manager Mauricio Pochettino will make a January bid in an attempt to lure the talented winger to the South Coast club, but is likely to face competition from Hamburg, who are believed to be monitoring the player's transfer status.


Southampton, who have performed above expectations this season, are currently placed 9th in the League table.
