Chelsea poised to sign Luke Shaw in January?

Chelsea are reportedly poised to secure the signature of Southampton's highly-rated defender Luke Shaw in the winter transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is eager to acquire the services of the talented left-back as a long-term replacement for veteran defender Ashley Cole and a deal looks likely to be struck provided the Blues guarantee the youngster first-team opportunities on a regular basis.


Shaw has been a regular starter for the Saints this season, having made 14 appearances for the South Coast club so far.


Southampton will host Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League fixture at St Mary's Stadium later today.
