Atletico Madrid plot summer swoop for Liverpool shot-stopper

Atletico Madrid will reportedly make a move for Liverpool's on-loan goalkeeper Pepe Reina during the summer, should they fail in their pursuit to land Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea on a permanent basis.

Belgian shot-stopper Courtois has been on loan with Los Rojiblancos since 2011 from the Blues, but is likely to play a role for the West London club next season, with manager Jose Mourinho open to offering him with first-team opportunities.

If that is proven correct, Atletico manager Diego Simeone will make a bid to sign Pepe Reina, who is currently on a season-long loan deal with Serie A giants Napoli.

Reina has made 394 appearances for the Reds until now.
