AS Monaco interested in Chelsea defender

French giants As Monaco have reportedly joined the race for the services of Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole during the summer transfer window.

The talented defender looks set to leave the Blues when his contract expires at the end of the season, as manager Jose Mourinho does not consider him as part of his plans for the future.

 

The 33-year-old has failed to cement a regular spot in the starting line-up under Mourinho this season, with Cesar Azpilicueta favoured for the left-back role and had been linked with the likes of New York Red Bulls and Real Madrid in recent weeks.

 

However, The People reports that Monaco are ready to tempt Cole into a move to Ligue 1, and are willing to offer a yearly wage structure of around £10m without tax.
