Ex-Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova dies aged 45

La Liga outfit Barcelona have announced the sudden demise of former manager Tito Vilanova following a lengthy battle with throat cancer.

The 45-year-old who managed the Catalan giants during the 2012/2013 season, was forced to step down from the role last summer, having seen symptoms of the disease develop.

 

Vilanova had been under medical attention in the recent months, and his health condition was termed to be 'critical' over the past week.

 

The Catalan giants revealed the sad story on their official Twitter page: "The FC Barcelona is in immense mourning. Tito Vilanova has died at the age of 45. May he rest in peace."
