Manchester City preparing world-record bid for Lionel Messi

Premier League giants Manchester City are reportedly set to make a club-record offer in the region of £165m for the services of Barcelona star Lionel Messi this summer.

According to Sport, City manager Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to land the signature of the talented Argentine international, and is ready to bid as high as £165m to secure his services.

 

On the other hand, Barcelona are understood to be preparing a new long-term deal for the star forward, which would see him surpass Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest earner in the La Liga.

 

Messi has scored 40 goals in 43 appearances for the Catalan giants this season.
