Chelsea chasing Raphael Varane

Chelsea are hopeful that a deal can be agreed with Real Madrid to sign French international centre back Raphael Varane. The 21-year-old is valued at around 25 million Euros by the Spanish side.

With David Luiz set to join Paris St Germain from Chelsea this week, the Blues are stepping up their search to find a replacement. The youngster Varane has been targeted by Chelsea as a ready made fit. The Frenchman has bags of experience at the top level and is seen by Chelsea as the perfect long term defensive partner for Kurt Zouma at the heart of Chelsea's defence.

Real Madrid, who won the Champions League last week, are expected to commence a busy summer of rebuilding and are ready to bring in a new defender to join the club.
