Grant's comeback for Petit

Avram Grant has ferociously responded to comments made by ex-Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit that Chelsea defenders John Terry and Ashley Cole did not do everything in their power to play for England in the game against Croatia.

He said: "I know that my players did everything to play in the England national team. We can judge Emmanuel Petit how he behaved as a player and John Terry behaved as the captain of the national team.

"Remember that before the Russia game everybody said to John, including the doctor, that his chances to be fit were 50-50 but he decided to train and because of this he missed six weeks of training.

"So this was not the right thing to say - especially from Petit."
