Everton rebuff Spurs' bid for John Stones

Everton have reportedly turned down an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for defender John Stones, according to a report. 

Newly appointed Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be keen on improving his team's defensive qualities this summer, and have shown interest in Swansea City's Ben Davies over the past week. 

The Express claims that the North London club have launched a formal bid for John Stones, but their offer has been knocked down by the Toffees, who are keen on keeping hold of the 20-year-old.

Stones joined the Merseysiders from Barnsley in January 2013.
