Angel Di Maria spurns Man Utd move talk

Di Maria - unlikely to move to Man United

Real Madrid forward Angel Di Maria has been repeatedly linked with a transfer to England, with Manchester United's incoming coach Louis Van Gaal rumoured to have considered the Argentina international as his next big money transfer signing this summer. However, the player himself has suggested that he would only leave the Bernabeu for a team playing Champions League football.

Di Maria has excelled for both club and country this season, helping Argentina to a World Cup final this evening and also having been an important part of Real Madrid's glorious Champions League victory. Many have attributed Real's recent success to the excellent form of Di Maria and apparently Man Utd are amongst the potential suitors waiting to find out if Real will sell a player who is often forgotten about amongst the classy attack of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Real Madrid have an 80 million Euro release clause on Di Maria and that is the price that has been quoted to secure a deal for the player. Whilst United are interested in the Argentinian; there is very little chance that a deal will be completed for a sum even close to that amount and therefore United will make a bid of 50 million Euros to ensure talks begin.

However, Di Maria reportedly told reporters that he would not be interested in a move to a team that doesn't guarantee Champions League football. This is a welcome boost for Chelsea, who are apparently rivals with United for Di Maria's coveted signature.
