Arsenal clear favourites to land Portuguese starlet

Arsenal are reportedly considered front-runners to land the services of William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon this summer.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has shown keen interest in strengthening the squad in all departments this summer, and the Portuguese holding midfielder remains one of Frenchman's prime targets.

The North London club have been tracking the 22-year-old over the past 18 months, and The Metro claims that they are set to make a summer offer for the talented midfielder, who has now been put up for sale by Sporting.

It is understood that a deal could be struck for a fee in the region of £30m.
