Cazorla denies transfer rumours

Spanish player Santi Cazorla rubbishes claims of a move away from Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla ends all speculations on his future at the Emirates stadium by rubbishing claims of a possible return to Spain.

The 29-year-old Spanish international was reportedly a top transfer target for La Liga side Atletico Madrid this summer as manager Diego Simeone was keen on strengthening his attack at Vicente Calderon in hopes of defending the Primera Division title.

But Cazorla, who scored the opening goal in the Gunners’ 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday, has denied all such reports and insists that he is focused on performing with the Gunners in the new season.

“I've seen that in the papers, but nobody has told me anything personally and the only things I know are from the papers, so I don't know anything”, he told Spanish radio Cadena Cope.

“I'm only focused on training here and preparing well playing with Arsenal. It's paper talk.”

The former Villarreal player joined the North London club from Malaga in 2012, and has since then made 96 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side across all competitions.

After winning his first piece of silverware with the Premier League club in the form of the FA Cup last season, the versatile play-maker will be hoping to add the English title to his list as Arsenal kick-start their campaign with the first match against Crystal Palace on 16th August.
