Man Utd pick up 4-1 win

Carlos Tevez grabbed a brace and Ryan Giggs and a late Carlos Tevez penalty were enough to give Man Utd a 4-1 victory over Derby on Saturday in the Premiership. Man Utd showed they are more than capable of defending their Premiership crown.

In the 24th minute, United set up a deadly move initiated by Ryan Giggs who played the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo on the left flank. The Portuguese international squared it to Wayne Rooney but the striker was denied the goal by a challenge from James McEveley.

Derby did well to ward off the Red Devils relentless efforts until the 40th minute when Giggs fired in his 100th Premier League goal for Manchester United.

The Red Devils had really turned up the heat in the last 10 minutes of the first half where Ronaldo who was very much involved in most of the attacks, tried a wonderful strike at the goal which was blocked by the keeper but Giggs did well to follow the ball and blasted it into the nets past the helpless keeper.

In the 43rd minute some sloppy defending by the Rams saw Rooney being given an open invitation to score but he failed to slot the ball into the nets with the keeper beaten.

Carlos Tevez added to the plight of the Rams when he took the score tally to 2-0 a minute later, from inside the penalty area.

In the second half, United continued with their domination with constant raids and were rewarded in the 60th minute, when Carlos Tevez got his second goal of the game when after collecting a pass from Wes Brown he drilled the ball into the nets.

The Rams nearly conceded a self goal in the 70th minute when Gary Teale gave a back pass to his keeper Bywater.

In the 75th minute, the Rams were overjoyed to have found their first away goal of the season and that too against a side like Man United when Steve Howard managed to bundle home the ball.

Ronaldo won himself a penalty towards the closing stages and stepped forward to take it. The Portuguese made no mistake whatsoever to take the scoreline to 4-1.
