Chelsea favourites to sign Man Utd midfield target

Chelsea are the frontrunners to land Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott amid interest from Manchester United, according to The Athletic.

The England international has emerged as a top target for multiple Premier League teams, but the Blues have the upper hand at the moment.

The Blues have already had an opening bid worth £64m turned down, and reports claim a renewed approach could be made very soon.

United are also long-term admirers of the 22-year-old, but they are unlikely to afford him, having already signed two midfielders in Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos this summer.

The Red Devils don't want to spend over the odds for a third midfield signing and are therefore unlikely to make an official bid for Scott.

Chelsea are in pole position to land the England youth international, but the big question remains whether the Cherries will sanction his sale.

They have repeatedly said that Scott won't be sold this summer, but could eventually do so with his contract expiring in June 2028.
