Chelsea set to sign England striker

Chelsea have reportedly agreed terms with Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of a potential transfer.

The Englishman had a tremendous 2025/26 season with the Seagulls, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.

It was not enough to secure a World Cup berth, but he has been tipped to return to the England fold soon.

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old is set for a surprise move to Chelsea, who are close to finalising payment terms.

Chelsea have a good relationship with Brighton and a deal could be formally finalised before the end of the month.

Welbeck was also on Manchester United's radar in the past, but they have not made an approach for his services this time.

United are currently focused on finding suitable offers on the table for Joshua Zirkzee, who has been tipped to return to Serie A.

If he were to depart in the coming days, United could start their pursuit of a striker. Until then, they may not recruit another striker.
