Falcao is a fantastic striker: Mata

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has praised new signing Radamel Falcao and feels that the Colombian international will add a lot to the team.

The 28-year-old joined the Red Devils as a deadline day transfer in a €10m loan deal that saw him moving to the Old Trafford club for a year from Ligue 1 side Monaco as boss Louis van Gaal looked to strengthen the attack after a disappointing start to the new season.

The English giants have so far managed just two points in their three outings losing one and drawing the other two before heading into the international break, and the Spanish international, who himself became a part of the side in January this year, is hopeful that Falcao will help the team see better days, insisting that the former Atletico Madrid striker is a ‘fantastic’ player.

“Almost at the end of the transfer window we had a new signing. Not just a player, but a fantastic striker whose ability to score is extraordinary”, Mata said via his official blog.

“I am sure he will give a lot to our group, as a person and with his goals, and here I welcome him and I wish him the best for this season”, the 26-year-old added,

Falcao will be hoping to make his debut for the Premier League side when they host Queen Park Rangers on Sunday.
