Premier League duo interested in Darren Fletcher

Aston Villa and Sunderland are understood to be keen on signing up out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher on a free transfer next summer.

The Scotland international has been limited to just nine appearances for United this season, with manager Louis van Gaal opting for the likes of Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick ahead of him for the central midfield role.

According to The Mail, United are yet to offer a new deal to the 30-year-old, with his existing one set to expire at the end of the season.

The report adds that Fletcher may consider his options in the next few months, with the Black Cats and Villans interested in his services.
