Man Utd consider McCarthy bid

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is reportedly mulling over a summer move for Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The Republic of Ireland international joined the Toffees from Wigan Athletic over the summer, and has since then been a regular in the first-team setup.

According to The Metro, Van Gaal considers the former Wigan man to have the composure to play in central midfield, and could launch a bid for his services when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

McCarthy has made 24 appearances for the Merseyside outfit this season.
