Newcastle United want Steve McClaren

Newcastle United boss Mike Ashley will look to sign up Steve McClaren as as their new manager in the next 24 hours, according to a report.

McClaren had a great spell with Derby County in the Championship this season, and just missed out on the play-offs.

The Magpies are in a free fall having lost their last eight Premier League games, and this had led to fears of being relegated from the top flight at the end of the campaign.

According to The People, McClaren will be asked to become the club's new manager in the next 24 hours as the club inch closer to the drop-zone by the day.
