Chelsea join race for Christian Benteke

Chelsea are ready to battle it out with Liverpool for the services of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to a report.

The Belgian international has been in top form for the Villans in the second half of the campaign, and this has attracted interest from the Reds in recent weeks.

However, The Mirror cites that the Premier League Champions are keen on signing up a new striker, with manager Jose Mourinho likely to offload Loic Remy in the summer.

Benteke is considered as a top candidate given his ability to score goals on a regular basis.

The 24-year-old has scored 15 goals for his club this season.
