Bas Dost nears Newcastle move

Newcastle United are expected to seal a deal for Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost in this week, according to a report.

The Netherlands international was in impressive form for the Bundesliga side last season, scoring 16 goals as they finished runners-up to the eventual champions Bayern Munich.

According to The Mirror, the Magpies boss Steve McClaren will look to make the 26-year-old his first signing for a fee in the region of £9m this summer.

Dost had a great spell after the winter break, notching up 14 goals in nine games for the Wolves.
