Valencia close in on Zigic

Valencia have moved a step closer to capturing the signature of Serbian striker Nikola Zigic. The Racing Santander striker had been linked with a move to Man City, but it appears Valencia have won the race to sign the 6 ft 8 striker.

Last summer Zigic only just signed a new 4-year contract and so is expected to command a fee from Santander of at least £8m. The player had recently interested Juventus, Barcelona and Tottenham; more closely linked to Man City, but Sven Goran Eriksson had just signed Valeri Bojinov and his attentions had turned elsewhere.
