Shay Given to have Stoke City medical

Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given is expected to undergo a medical with Stoke today, according to reports.

The Republic of Ireland international looked close to sealing a switch to Championship side Middlesbrough, before the Potters made a move.

It is understood that the former Manchester City and Newcastle United shot-stopper was keen on remaining in the Premier League, and this compelled him to snub a move to Boro for the Potters.

Widespread reports cite that the 39-year-old will also discuss terms with Mark Hughes' side.
