West Ham move for Alex Song in doubt?

West Ham United could back out on a summer move for Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, according to reports.

The former Cameroon international has been tipped to join Slaven Bilic's side on a permanent deal this summer.

However, The Mirror claims that the move has been put in doubt, as the midfielder requires a surgery to remove a bone fragment in his ankle.

It is added that the Hammers' hierarchy could consider the option of signing up the former Arsenal man on a second season-long loan rather than a permanent transfer.
