Tony Pulis confirms Rickie Lambert interest
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has confirmed that the club are in the race to sign Liverpool's out-of-favour striker Rickie Lambert.
The England international joined the Reds from Southampton last summer, and has since then been sparingly used by manager Brendan Rodgers.
Baggies boss Pulis has admitted his interest in Lambert, comparing the 33-year-old striker to a 'brand new car'.
"Rickie is available. Liverpool have made that known. We'd be interested. It's very important that we get players who will score goals. Rickie's got a great goalscoring record." he told Birmingham Mail.
"From what I can gather from people at Liverpool his fitness levels are very very good, and he is desperate to play football.
"He didn't play last year so it's like bringing a brand new car out of the garage if we did sign him. Just putting a bit of petrol in it and letting it run."
Lambert was highly unsuccessful for the Reds last season, having scored just three goals in 36 outings for the Merseyside outfit.
