Everton bid for Federico Fazio

Everton are understood to have lodged interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio.

The Argentine defender joined Spurs from Sevilla last summer, and has since then struggled for regular first-team action.

West Bromwich Albion were believed to be closing in on the central defender, but the deal broke down as the player was unwilling to accept to terms put on the table.

The Mail now claims that the Toffees have made a £5m bid for the talented centre-back as they seeks replacements for recently departed Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz.

Fazio made just 14 appearances for Spurs last season.
