Chelsea interested in Javi Martinez

Chelsea are apparently preparing a move for Bayern Munich star Javi Martinez.

The Blues boss Guus Hiddink is expected to sign a new central midfielder in January with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic failing to come up with the goods this season.

Italian publication Calciomercato says that the Premier League holders could pursue a move for Martinez as they seek to make their way up the league table during the second half of the campaign.

Martinez has made 17 appearances for the Bavarian giants this term, having fully recovered from a serious knee injury which hampered his previous campaign.
