Asmir Begovic linked with Everton

Premier League side Everton are interested in pursuing a summer deal for Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The Bosnian international joined the Premier League holders from Stoke City last summer with a view to playing a back-up role to Thibaut Courtois.

However, the move turned out to be fruitful as he earned himself an extended spell in the first-team following a long-term knee injury to his Belgian counterpart.

Since Courtois' return, Begovic has been warming the substitutes' bench with interim boss Guus Hiddink reluctant to play him even in the Cup games.

Sources now reveal that Toffees boss Roberto Martinez will seek to lure the experienced shot-stopper to Goodison Park with the guarantee of a regular start in the top flight.

Everton are currently 11th in the league standings with 35 points.
