Real Madrid target Dimitri Payet

Real Madrid are eyeing a surprise swoop for West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet. The Frenchman had a sublime season for the Hammers following his move from Marseille last year.

Payet, 29, enjoyed a successful campaign under Slaven Bilic, and was shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Player accolade.

French daily Le 10 Sport suggests that the Champions League finalists will keep a close eye on the player's performances during the European championships ahead of a potential move for his signature.

However, the Hammers look unlikely to cash in of their star asset given he still has five years left on his current deal at the Olympic Stadium.

League rivals Barcelona have also been credited with interest for the French sensation.
