Joao Mario a target for Jose Mourinho
Joao Mario a target for Jose Mourinho
The 23 year old midfielder who plays for Sporting Lisbon has impressed this season and is thought to be the man that fellow countryman Mourinho wants to build in Manchester midfield around.
Mario who is a Sporting Lisbon youth graduate has been a star performer for a Leões this season when they finished runners up to Benfica in the Primeira liga scoring seven goals and twelve assists.
The Porto born midfielder is a creative player who has an eye for a goal and is a huge talent but the estimated release clause is said to be in the region of £47 million and United would need to meet this to get Sporting’s attention.
United have been scouting Sporting Lisbon all season watching amongst others William Carvalho, who would cost them a reported £35 million and Benfica’s Renato Sanches who they missed out on when he signed for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Manchester United have a strong relationship with Sporting in the past they spent £12.5million to sign some kid called Cristiano Ronaldo (whatever happened to him???) and Nani to Old Trafford.
Kia Joorabchian is Mario's agent and is looking him to get him to a Premier League club after Euro 2016 with Chelsea another potential destination for him.
