Dani Alves all set for Juve switch following yesterday's medical

Brazilian full-back Dani Alves completed a medical yesterday ahead of a free transfer to Juventus.

The 33-year-old Barcelona man has elected to exercise a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave the Camp Nou for free this summer.

Juventus were rumoured to have made a move for the veteran defender earlier this month, but completion of the deal was held up by the player's participation in the Copa America in the USA with Brazil.

Brazil flopped in the tournament by exiting at the group stage, and Selecao boss Dunga paid the price as he was relieved of his duties.

Upon his return to his home to Barcelona, Alves requested some time alone with his family before completing his switch to the Italian champions.

But after completing a medical yesterday, Alves will be confirmed as a Bianconeri player.

Alves joined Barcelona in 2008 for a fee in excess of €30 million from Sevilla.

The Brazilian was a vital part of Pep Guardiola's Treble-winning team in his first season at the Camp Nou, and went on to take his total trophy haul to over 30 during his stay in Catalonia, making him one of the most decorated players in European football history, behind only Ryan Giggs and Vitor Baia in terms of total trophy-count.

Alves will be sorely missed in Barcelona, and the Blaugrana will find it difficult to replace the innovative right-back.
