Napoli could be set to swoop for Ajax striker Arkadiusz Milik after the player was spotted at Naples airport, according to reports in Italy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the 22-year-old striker was seen at Naples airport, sparking further speculation that the young hitman could be about to become a Napoli player.

Milik had been on international duty with Poland at the ongoing UEFA European Championship in France, but Poland were eliminated at the quarter-final stage after a penalty shootout defeat to Portugal.

Milik's all-round performances at the Euros drew praise, however there was criticism of his finishing ability, as the young striker was often wasteful in front of goal.

That was not the case for most of last season in Amsterdam, as Milik was Ajax's top goal scorer, netting 21 times in 31 Eredivisie matches, as his side threw away their long-standing lead in the title race on the final day, allowing Philip Cocu's PSV Eindhoven  to leap-frog them into top spot.

Despite Ajax's title disappointment, Milik caught the eye of some of Europe's top clubs, and it now appears that Napoli are leading the chase for the striker's signature.

Milik's arrival in Naples will undoubtedly spark rumours of a possible exit for Gonzalo Higuaín, but it is more likely that Milik will either deputise for the 28-year-old Argentinian, or play alongside him, with Manolo Gabbiadini more likely to leave the club this summer.
