Juventus open talks with Chelsea over Cuadrado

Juventus are keen to retain Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado after a successful loan spell in Turin last season, according to reports in Italy.

Sky Sport Italia are reporting that the two clubs have opened talks to negotiate a return to Juventus for the 28-year-old winger.

It is claimed that Juve will offer €2 million to take Cuadrado on loan again next season, and the deal will include a madatory purchase option which will see the Old Lady pay a further €22 million to sign the player permanently in 2017.

Cuadrado joined Chelsea from Fiorentina in January 2015 for a fee of around £25 million. The Colombian struggled to hold down a regular position in the first team at Stamford Bridge and, after just six months at the club, was loaned to Juventus for the entirety of last season.

The former Udinese player made 40 appearances for the Bianconeri last term, scoring five goals, helping his side retain the Serie A title for the fifth successive season.

And it now appears that Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri is keen to retain the speedy winger, as he looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for Champions League success next season.

Whether or not Chelsea are willing to let Cuadrado go will depend on whether new manager Antonio Conte sees the Colombian as part of his plans. Cuadrado's ability to play as a wing-back may be useful to Conte if he wants to impliment the 3-5-2 system he used at Juventus.
