Manchester United in talks over Matuidi move

Manchester United could be set to make a shock move for Paris Saint Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi, according to reports in France.

Multiple outlets including Canal+ and l'Equipe are reporting that United are interested in the 29-year-old French midfielder, and that the 20-time English champions are set to make a bid for the player.

It had even been claimed that Matuidi was set to complete a medical ahead of a move to Old Trafford while still on international duty with France.

That is a claim that has been disputed, but it is believed that French champions PSG would be willing to let Matuidi go for around €25 million, which would represent a bargain for a player of his quality and experience.

It is thought that Matuidi may have become surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes due to the recent arrival of Grzegorsz Krychowiak from Sevilla for €25 million.

Rumours of a switch to United for Matuidi would make some sense as he is a client of super agent Mino Raiola. Riola has already negotiated Old Trafford moves for two of his clients, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, this summer, while the Red Devils are said to be in contact with him over another of his clients, Paul Pogba.

Matuidi is currently on international duty with France at Euro 2016, so any potential move may have to wait until Les Bleus' campaign on home soil is over.
