Spurs have wrapped up a deal for Janssen

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar for an undisclosed fee.

Spurs have sealed a deal to bring the 22-year-old Netherlands international to White Hart Lane, announcing that they have signed the player on a four year contract for an undisclosed transfer fee -- which is believed to be in the region of £17 million.

Mauricio Pochettino was keen to bolster his attacking options, having been so dependent on England striker Harry Kane last season.

The Argentinian manager identified Janssen as his primary target, and Spurs have fought of rival interest from French champions Paris Saint Germain to capture the young striker.

Janssen is a former Feyenoord academy player who only joined AZ last summer. But after an impressive season in which he scored 27 Eredivisie goals, they young forward began to attract interest from some of the continent's biggest clubs.

Stylistically, Janssen shares many attributes with Kane, being strong, good at holding up the ball, powerful in the air and a lethal finisher.

The Dutchman -- who has scored three international goals in five appearances for the Oranje, including a goal against England at Wembley earlier this year -- will provide cover and competition for Kane, who is coming off the back of a disappointing Euro 2016 campaign in which he failed to find the net.

Spurs will now focus their efforts on reinforcing other areas of the squad, with a move for Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze said to be a possibility.
