Liverpool in for Benfica winger

Eduardo Salvio news

Liverpool could be set to move for Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio, according to reports.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola reported that Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira was in London this week to attempt to sell both Talisca and Salvio to Premier League clubs.

Liverpool have previously been linked with a move for Brazilian attacker Talisca, but it is apparently Argentinian winger Salvio who they now prefer, with the Portuguese club looking to fetch €25 million for the player they signed from Atlético Madrid in 2012.

Having already reinforced several areas of his squad this summer -- with the captures of goalkeeper Loris Karius from Mainz 05, defender Joel Matip from Schalke 04 and attacking midfielder Sadio Mané from Southampton -- Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has also earmarked Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum as a target, and reports today claim that the Anfield club has had a £25 million bid accepted for the Dutchman.

But it is also believed that Klopp is keen to add to his wide attacking options, and five-cap Argentina winger Salvio could fit the bill.

The 26-year-old only made seven league appearances last season as he was out with an injury. But during the 2014-15 season, the former Lanus player scored nine goals in 29 league appearances.

During his time with Atlético, Salvio was twice a Europa League winner, and his skill, pace and goal-scoring ability would be an astute addition for Liverpool.
